Outdoor Water Solutions

Keep your pond healthy and easier to enjoy with Outdoor Water Solutions equipment: aerators, fountains, water treatments, tools, and dock hardware that keep water moving, add oxygen, and help reduce muck, odors, and ice damage.

PondHaven carries electric, windmill, and solar aeration systems, surface aerators, floating fountains, pond treatments, de-icers, and waterfront accessories. What fits your pond depends on its size, depth, and access to power. Tell us about your pond and we will help you narrow the options.

Guide & FAQ

How to choose the right pond equipment

Start with the problem you want to solve and the power you can reach, then match the system to your pond. The sections below cover the main types, sizing, and the setup details that affect what you buy.

Most ponds run into the same handful of problems: low oxygen, poor circulation, organic muck, algae, and ice damage in winter. This equipment addresses those problems through aeration, water movement, and biological or chemical treatments.

It tends to help most where you see:

  • stressed or dying fish in hot weather
  • odors from stagnant or deep water
  • muck buildup around docks, beaches, and shorelines
  • algae that keeps coming back
  • ice damage to docks and structures
  • a shoreline that is hard to reach or use

No single product solves every water-quality problem, but aeration and regular treatments are a practical starting point.

Bottom-diffused electric aerators

Compressors in the AerMaster lines push air through airline to diffusers on the pond floor, and the rising bubbles carry deeper water up toward the surface. Choose these when mains power reaches the shoreline and circulation through the whole water column is the goal. The AerMaster Pro Deep is designed for ponds up to 40 feet deep.

Windmill pond aerators

The Base, Deluxe, and Super Premier windmills run on wind and use no electricity. The Base is built for ponds up to 1 acre and 30 feet deep, the Deluxe up to 2.5 acres, and the Super Premier up to 3 acres. Choose a windmill when the pond is remote, open to steady wind, and clear of tall tree canopy. These are working aeration windmills rather than decorative yard pieces.

Solar aerators and solar fountains

TurboAir, NitroAir, NightAir, and Aerify Solar run on sun power. Direct-drive models work while the sun is up, and the NightAir battery backup system is designed to run up to 20 hours a day. Choose solar when trenching electrical service to the water would cost more than the system, and the site gets good sun.

Surface aerators and floating fountains

The Air-O-Lator Aquarian surface aerators move large volumes of water at the surface. Fountains such as the Classic Series, EcoSeries, Palatial, and Aerify add a visible spray pattern on top of that movement, and the Palatial runs in water as shallow as 24 inches. Choose these when the pond is shallow, or the display matters as much as the aeration.

If your main goal is circulating deeper water, compare the bottom-diffused aerators in the Outdoor Water Solutions line instead.

Pond dimensions and power access settle most of the decision.

  • Surface area. Acreage narrows the field quickly. The windmill models each list an approximate acre limit in their details.
  • Depth. Deep ponds stratify and hold low oxygen near the bottom, which is where bottom diffusers earn their keep. Shallow ponds usually do better with surface aerators or shallow-rated fountains.
  • What you want from it. A fountain gives you a display plus surface agitation. A bottom-diffused system puts oxygen deeper in the water column.
  • Seasonal needs. In freezing climates, plan for a de-icer such as the Ice-Away, a Freeze Control Unit for windmill airline, or the Fall & Winter bacteria blend.

Note the average depth as well as the deepest point. Two ponds with the same surface area can call for very different systems.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about our outdoor water solutions.

Do I need an electric hookup at the shoreline to run this equipment?

Not necessarily. Electric aerators and fountains need mains power, but the windmill aerators and solar systems run without it. For remote ponds, wind and solar avoid the cost of trenching power to the water.

When should I choose a windmill aerator instead of a solar-powered one?

Choose a windmill when the site gets steady open wind and has no power available. Choose solar when you want run time that does not depend on wind, or when you want the NightAir battery backup to aerate for up to 20 hours a day.

What is the difference between non-weighted poly tubing and weighted airline?

Non-weighted poly tubing is for above-ground or buried dry-land runs from the compressor or windmill to the shore. Weighted airline is self-sinking and settles on the pond bottom once it is in the water, so it stays out of the way of boats and fishing gear.

Can I keep an aeration windmill running through freezing weather?

Yes, with the right accessory. The Freeze Control Unit introduces alcohol vapor into the airline to help prevent ice blockage in cold, moist conditions. Plan for it before the first freeze if your winters stay below zero for long stretches.

What water depth does a floating pond fountain need?

It depends on the model, and the Palatial is the shallowest we carry at 24 inches. Whatever fountain you choose, keep enough clearance above the bottom so the pump does not draw muck, and check the product page for the depth it is built for.
