A kit if you are building, single units if you are fixing

Savio's eight active products split cleanly. If you are building something new, the Savio Pond Kit and the Pondless Waterfall Kit Package arrive as complete packages with the pump, filtration and plumbing already matched to each other. If you are repairing or upgrading an existing feature, the same parts are sold individually.

On the single units, the choice is where the water is treated. The Standard and Compact SkimmerFilter units sit at the pond edge and pull floating debris off the surface before it sinks, while the Livingponds Waterfall Filter 100 sits at the top of the falls and does the biological work on the way down. Most water gardens end up running one of each.

Two pumps carry the flow: WaterMaster Solids for water with debris in it and WaterMaster Clear for already filtered water. The UVinex system clears green water and is the one item here that treats algae rather than solids. Should I buy a Savio kit or the individual parts?
Buy the kit if you are building from scratch. The Savio Pond Kit and Pondless Waterfall Kit Package come with the pump and filtration already matched, while the single skimmers, filters and pumps suit a repair or an upgrade to a feature you already have.

What is the difference between the Standard and Compact SkimmerFilter?
Size and the water they suit. Both pull floating debris off the pond surface before it sinks and rots, and the Compact is the smaller unit for a smaller water garden. Neither replaces the biological filter at the top of a waterfall.

What does the Livingponds Waterfall Filter do?
It handles the biological filtration at the head of the falls. Water is pumped up into it, passes through the media, and returns to the pond over the spillway, so the filter and the waterfall are the same piece of the build.

Which Savio pump should I use?
Use the WaterMaster Solids pump where the water carries debris, because it is built to pass solids without clogging. The WaterMaster Clear pump suits water that has already been filtered, such as a pump sitting after a skimmer.

Does Savio make anything for green water?
Yes, the UVinex system. It is an ultraviolet clarifier, so it targets the suspended algae that turns water green rather than the solids and waste a skimmer or filter removes.
