What Size Liner Do I Need?

Use Anjon's sizing formula, then choose the next size up:

• Liner Length = longest pond length + (2 x maximum depth) + 2 ft
• Liner Width = widest pond width + (2 x maximum depth) + 2 ft

Example: a pond 15' long, 10' wide and 1.5' deep needs 15 + 3 + 2 = 20' long by 10 + 3 + 2 = 15' wide, so choose a 15' x 20' liner.

The extra 2 ft gives you about 1 ft of overlap on every edge to anchor under rock or soil. Ponds wider than 50' need two liners joined with seam tape (see How to Seam below).

• Smaller liners ship folded in a box. Large liners and rolls ship by freight truck, and the carrier will call to schedule delivery.
• Inspect your liner before signing for it. If it arrives damaged, refuse the delivery and contact us, and we will arrange a replacement.

How to Seam Two Liners

For ponds larger than one liner, join panels with Anjon seam tape, primer and a seam roller (add them above). Anjon's method:

1. Overlap the liners 6" to 12".
2. Clean both seam areas with mineral spirits.
3. Mark the seam line, then prime both liners.
4. Apply 3" double-sided seam tape to the bottom liner, rolling out air bubbles.
5. Lay the top liner down, peel the backing at a 45° angle and roll the seam firmly.
6. Prime over the seam edge, apply 6" single-sided tape, roll it and seal both edges with lap sealant.
7. Let the seam dry completely before filling the pond.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size liner do I need?
Add twice the maximum depth plus 2 ft to the pond's length and width, then choose the next size up. A 15' x 10' pond that is 1.5' deep needs a 15' x 20' liner.

Should I choose 45 mil or 60 mil?
45 mil is the standard for backyard koi ponds and water gardens. Choose 60 mil for large ponds, rocky or root-heavy ground, heavy boulders or ponds visited by wildlife.

Is LifeGuard safe for fish and plants?
Yes. LifeGuard is certified fish and wildlife safe and contains no plasticizers.

How do I get the lifetime warranty?
Choose "Add UnderGuard (Lifetime Warranty)" in the Underlayment option. UnderGuard ships cut to match your liner, and installing LifeGuard over it extends the warranty from 25 years to lifetime. Without it, LifeGuard carries a 25-year warranty.

Can I join two liners together?
Yes. Use Anjon seam tape and primer, following the seaming steps above, and let the seam dry fully before filling.
