Nexus Automatic – Fully Automated Cleaning for Your Nexus Filters

Simplify your pond maintenance with the Nexus Automatic upgrade. Designed to fully automate the cleaning cycle of your Nexus or Nexus+ Filter, this system allows you to set a programmable timer to control cleaning intervals based on your pond's conditions and fish load. Factory preset to activate every 3 days for a 10-minute cleaning cycle, it is available in both gravity-fed and pump-fed versions for models manufactured after 2006.

Optimized for Effortless Maintenance

Regular backflushing of Nexus filters can be a time-consuming chore, requiring you to be at the pond to operate ball valves and pumps manually. The Nexus Automatic upgrade takes care of these functions automatically, ensuring that your filter remains clean without constant supervision.

For ponds with fish, it is recommended to exchange about 10% of the pond water weekly to maintain optimal water quality.

Each unit comes with a 1-year manufacturer warranty.

When to Use

This upgrade kit is ideal for owners of Nexus 300, 310, or 320 and Nexus 200, 210, or 220 filters (manufactured after 2006) who want the convenience of programmable cleaning cycles. With the Nexus Automatic, the entire cleaning process—from shutting off the pump to activating the waste valve and backflushing—is handled mechanically.

How It Works – Pump-Fed Setup

In a pump-fed configuration, the programmable timer triggers the cleaning cycle by switching off the circulating pump and allowing the water level within the filter to equalize. Air, normally diverted to the outer bio-chamber, is rerouted to the center chamber (or Eazy filter) to agitate and clean the filter media. Once the media is thoroughly cleaned, the automated waste valve opens to drain the debris. After the valve closes, the air flow is restored to the outer chamber and the pump restarts, returning the filter to normal operation. Note that since water is lost during cleaning, replenishment of pond water is necessary.

How It Works – Gravity-Fed Setup

For gravity-fed installations, the process begins similarly with the timer shutting off the pump to equalize the water level. The inlet valve then closes and directs air to the center of the filter to clean the Eazy filter media. The waste valve opens to remove accumulated debris, and once the Eazy chamber is drained, the inlet valve reopens for a final flush. With the waste valve closing and air redirected back to the bio-chamber, the pump resumes, and normal filtration continues. As with pump-fed systems, water lost during the cleaning cycle must be replenished.
